Another New Photo-Sharing Site

Posted in Uncategorized by on October 23, 2005

Flickr is OK but limited…who wants to pay for a premium account anyway? I mentioned one alternative earlier and have now found another.

BubbleShare is easy to use and has an uploader available (unfortunately it’s only for I.E. so for those of use who are sensible enough to avoid that piece of junk it’s not a lot of use)…still uploading via the Internet isn’t difficult.

I’ll suggest that both BubbleShare and ShutterBook be supported by Flock.

    Thank you for you comments.

We hear your desire to have non-IE support and we’re working on a number of options right now to allow non IE users to upload multiple photos. This is one of our top priorties (I am also a non-I.E. user). ;)

We’ve got something really neat in the (bubble) labs that is in testing that we think is really cool that will solve the above mentioned. I hope you’ll check back with us again when we have it rolled out and give us further thoughts then.

Thanks also for suggesting us to Flock. If anyone over there is listening, I’d be more than happy to speak to someone there and work with them where we can.

Excellent Albert, and thankyou for your generous and prompt reply. Flock has the stated goal of adding alternatives to all of its supported external services so with that in mind your reply is both timely and ideal as a spur to get on and make it happen. I’ll pass your posting on to the lead developer of Flock. Many thanks!

Sorry, I forgot to mention, as per our blog entry (http://weblog.bubbleshare.com/) we have now have a web based enhanced uploader support for FireFox and Safari. We also have a Mac iPhoto uploader as well.

Hope you’ll check it out and let us know what you think.

    Albert,

I’m unable to load your blog and can’t find details of any e-mail contact you may provide. One of the Flock staff with whom I’m in contact would welcome contact with you with a view to your providing them with APIs for inclusion in Flock, Daryl L.L. Houston (daryl AT flock.com). I’m merely an enthusiastic alpha tester…they also serve who only test and comment…though i do my best to add as much constructive feedback as I can and to help the project grow…I also publicise it on sites of mine and elsewhere. I’m publicising BubbleShare now too and hope that a few of the users of my sites may make their way to your site. I’ve posted to this blog a longer appraisal of BubbleShare and would welcome any comment(s) you might make regarding it (obviously I’ll also be willing to alter any glaring errors or omissions I may have made), if the piece is of use to you please feel free to make use of it.
